It rained !

I'm glad it rained.  Not so much for me as for the grandsons.  They should know what rain feels like.

OK, old joke and not true. But it has been a while since we got a general soaking rain.  We got one last night. In the area of 3 inches, depending on where you are.

Last night started out kind of routine.  Sue and I had been doing some yard work (OK, THAT wasn't routine either) and after we cleaned up were going to get a sandwich when they paged out WU EMT's for a single car rollover accident.  We have gotten to the place we have a firetruck respond to calls like that, so Sue and I went to the scene while a couple firefighters brought a truck.  We were doing better than the EMT's who had a Paramedic but the rest of the crew wee a few minutes away.   No problem, get the ambulance to the scene and I can drive it if need be.

Short story, the rest of the crew responded to the scene, they had a crew and I was relieved (in more ways than one).  While that was going on the Deputy got a call about a woman wondering around in some trees and a corn field north of town.    A couple of us responded there as well to help.

Did I mention it was just starting to rain as the ambulance pulled out?

By the time we made the second scene it was raining like 2 cows and one rock. (if you don't understand that we'll have to explain it privately).  The Deputy and I found her, Deb (the Deputy) got her in the car and took care of her,  and we went home, got a dry shirt, and ate supper.  Then we started shutting down irrigators.

We're setting along the road waiting for a break in the rain when Becky calls Sue.  Mom called her with water running in the basement.  It seems water was coming in  places it doesn't normally leak.  One was the main breaker panel.

We didn't know about that until Mom had some strange happenings in the kitchen.  Aman went to check the breakers and got bit.  Then he noticed the water  dripping out of the box.  So we spent our evening vacuuming water and unloading the refrigerator and fun stuff like that.

I needed to find a photo for this post and couldn't find any.  But in the process I realized that 2 months ago we were helping an older couple from church with storm damage
and that limb is still on their garage roof.  I think it may be time for a friend to go shake their insurance guy's tree.

Well its a good thing this was just a routine evening for you. Its good to know you are there even on the sidelines just in case you are needed. Good job to all the volunteers in West Union
